Vacation Rental Marketing - The Ultimate Blogging Guide - Question

When should I be blogging

Vacation rental marketing – When should I be blogging?

There are two answers to this question.

The first answer is now or sooner than later. With over 2.5 million vacation properties vying for bookings it doesn’t really matter where your vacation rental property is located there is bound to be fierce competition regarding enquiries. If you have an established blog it can serve a number of purposes that can help generate both enquiries and bookings.
A blog makes your VR website sticky. People are eager to find out more about their intended destination so if you have written articles about what there is to see and do in the area they may well hang around and read them. Site visitors that stay on your site longer are more likely to book.
So the sooner you start blogging the sooner you can draw these readers / potential gusts in.

The second answer to “when should I be blogging” is regularly.

Thinks of your blog in terms of your favourite newspaper or magazine. These publications have a readership too and if they only published sporadically readers wouldn’t know where they stand. Daily newspapers are published daily and monthly magazines are published monthly.

You can set your watch by them.

If you went to buy your daily newspaper and it wasn’t available you would likely buy another one instead and that’s exactly what can happen with blog readers and you don’t want to lose your subscribers.

How often should I blog?

This is never an easy question to answer but you could say the more often the better but there are a number of qualifiers to this answer.
You don’t want blogging to become a chore or a weight around your neck.
It also depends on what kind of articles you are posting. If you are posting 400 – 600 word articles then you wouldn’t be posting those 5 days a week because that’s a lot of work.
On the other hand if you are publishing bite size snippets that only take 10 to 15 minutes to produce then you could publish every day of the week.
We will come on to this in more detail but a it’s a good idea to mix up these two types of content, long form and bite size, and feed your site (and readers) somewhere between 3 – 7 days a week.
No matter what you do – you need to be uploading something to your site no less than once a week otherwise you won’t be able to hold your readers interest.

That’s why we need to start blogging sooner than later and regularly.
