Vacation Rental Marketing - The Ultimate Blogging Guide - Question

What is blogging

What is blogging?

So you’ve heard the term “blog” and you want to know what blogs are all about. Well you’ve come to the right place.

In the very basic sense blog is short for weblog and many blogs that you may have come across are just an online diary that outlines an individuals thoughts and lifestyle but that kind of blog is not really appropriate for our vacation rental marketing campaigns (more on this later).

As we said in the introduction, blogging is just the creation of informative articles, media content or posts, that are published on a regular basis. These posts appear on our website in reverse cronological order with the most recently published article being shown first.

The majority of blogs, and certainly the ones that we want to be creating for our vacation rental marketing campaigns, allow visitors (or readers or subscribers) to leave comments and it is this interactivity that distinguishes them from our other static website pages. This is exactly the type of engagement that we want to nurture.
Engaged readers are far more likely to become fee paying guests than those that just read our content and move on.

Here are a few statistics from Wikipedia regarding blogs and blogging,

On 16 February 2011, there were over 156 million public blogs in existence. On 20 February 2014, there were around 172 million Tumblr and 75.8 million WordPress blogs in existence worldwide. According to critics and other bloggers, Blogger (a Google blogging platform) is the most popular blogging service used today, however Blogger does not offer public statistics. Technorati has 1.3 million blogs as of February 22, 2014.

As you can see blogging is massively popular.
