What changes are shaping the collaborative industry in 2016?

Avantio is the first European platform to connect professional managers of vacation accommodation with Airbnb

Spain, Europe: While in the European Economic Community intelligent economists and politicians meet in endless committee meetings to discuss the future and regulation of the collaborative economy, the business model is transforming, eliminating prejudices and demonstrating that it can adapt to market and consumer needs.

Proof of this is evident in the important change made by Airbnb, one of the world’s pioneering companies, now valued at more than 25,000 million dollars. Founded eight years ago in San Francisco, it was created to facilitate renting private rooms and apartments, until today.

We say today, because as a result of the Airbnb and Avantio agreement made two months ago in San Francisco, Airbnb is now incorporating professional property managers to its portal, in addition to existing private individuals.

So what does this mean for the vacation rental industry and the collaborative industry as a whole? Like any industry, the business model is changing and expanding, and this can mean good news for both industries. The vacation rental industry is in a period of growth, and with this growth, structure and moderation is needed in order to maintain its reputation. The Airbnb model offers this in addition to security and trust.

And the collaborative industry will change shape, softening the exclusive peer-to-peer boundaries and offering customers a blend with business to customers whilst incorporating the trust model. With Airbnb taking the lead in changing the shape of the industry, it will only be a matter of time before other collaborative companies follow it’s lead.
