 Homeaway Drop Tiered Subscriptions

The New HomeAway Terms and Conditions State that All Listings Created or Renewed After May 1, 2016 Must Use Online Booking and Must Use the HomeAway Checkout to Finalize Bookings

Take a look at the HomeAway Terms and Conditions in effect on April 28, 2016 –

“23.    Member Eligibility; Accuracy of Information; Listing Practice Requirements.

Our services may only be used by members who can form legally binding contracts under applicable law. If you are registering as a business entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind the entity to these Terms. Each member represents and covenants that all information submitted to us and to the Site during such member’s registration with the Site shall be true and correct. Each member further agrees to promptly provide notice to the Site by contacting us as provided above under “Contact Us” regarding any updates to any such contact information previously submitted by such member to the Site.

In order to list a property on a Site, members must comply with certain requirements including but not limited to:

  • All listings created or renewed after May 1, 2016, must use online booking;
  • All listings created or renewed after May 1, 2016, (both subscription and pay-per-booking) must use the HomeAway checkout to finalize bookings that result from an inquiry or booking initiated on the Site;
  • Members with online booking agree to use commercially reasonable efforts to respond to all booking requests from travelers within 24 hours of receipt of a request for booking;
  • Members with online booking further agree to take commercially reasonable efforts to cause all traveler payments to be processed within 24 hours of authorization by the traveler for such payment; and
  • Members with online booking must accept a material number of booking requests received in the interest of the traveler experience.”

I’m not sure how this fits with their other announcement of a two subscription fee, one for online payments and one without – Go figure

This is really going to #### a LOT of people off

Homeaway community relations stated

I am fairly sure that the line in the terms and conditions about online booking being required after May 1st is incorrect. I am working closely with our internal teams to verify the correct information and will report back to the Community as soon as possible. Thank you so much for pointing this out.

Oops, cat out of the bag or what – Surely they can’t put that down to a typo (or blame Tom Hale)
