6 MORE Free Vacation Rental Websites

This week we are looking at more vacation rental websites where you can advertise your holiday home for free.

If you missed the first 6 that we listed you can see them here;

As we said before, it’s not all about the big guns like Flipkey, Homeaway and VRBO.
Some owners wrote to us mentioning others that were not included in the original list, so here’s some more.

Some are free, some are initially free and some add commission to your own rates.

1. Dwellable

1. Dwellable.com

dwellable.com is free to advertise on

I didn’t include Dwellable on the first list and site owner Brenda pulled me over the coals for it.
Now , Dwellable doesn’t cover the whole planet just yet but if your holiday property is in an area that they do cover then sign up now.
Their apps (for Android tablets, Ipad’s and smartphones) will render your property images in a nicer way than anything else I have come across.
You will be showing off your stuff in full screen, full eye candy, mode. .

CNN named their iPad app a top 10 travel app and Dwellable is a Google Staff Pick on the Google Play Store for Android devices. For most property owners and managers, they are the best way to make sure your listing is searchable on mobile devices–and listings are absolutely free.

Check out this article on vacation rental apps for more information on the mobile side of VR marketing.

2. Getaway Earth

2. getawayearth.com

getawayearth.com

Sandra wrote to me and said this,

I have only received 1 booking from a free listing site and that is getaway earth but just last week I got a unexpected booking – the lady who booked through Getaway Earth recommended our home to her friend (even though she’s not stayed yet) and the friend has also booked.

So that shows how these free sites can bring in bookings.

Here’s what they say on their site,

We’re running a free holiday rental listing offer for all new listings until 31 May 2013. Please feel free to take advantage of this offer by creating an account with us right now! We think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the experience!

3. Myfavoriteholidaycottages

Jean wrote in saying,

Many thanks for the list of free vacation rental websites.
Here in the UK I am listed with http://myfavouriteholidaycottages.co.uk
By linking to their site from mine I have a free listing

If you are in the UK you may want to check this site out. Here’s what they have to say,

Launched in 2010, My Favourite Holiday Cottages already has page one rankings on most search engines, attracting thousands of UK holiday cottage bookers every week.

The site is a more effective way to market your holiday cottage: It is set up to attract and send interested holidaymakers straight to your own website. Years of experience have taught us that an enquiry from a property’s own website, where there is more and better presented information, is far more likely to convert to a booking, than one from an advert. (If you don’t yet have a website, don’t worry – we’re experts on individual website designs.)

4. Futurestay

4. futurestay.com

futurestay.com

Futurestay could well be the site for the technophobic among you. You can build and host your own website both quickly and easily. Not only that it’s free.
It looks like there are some pretty good extra tools with this site too. You can see a list of these extras here

5. Holiday velvet

5. holiday-velvet.com

holidayvelvet

Here’s what they say;

We are reputable worldwide agency. 10% of our traffic comes from people who type “Holiday Velvet” in Google and with 14% repeat buyers you could say that our customers get great service from us.
They trust that we choose to work with professional owners only, that our prices are competitive and that they have an agent to help in case something goes wrong. We get great reviews.

6. rentalspot

6. rentalspot.com/

http://rentalspot.com/

Here’s their blurb,

RentalSpot takes away all the frustrating things common with other rental sites such as high listing costs, commissions and other hidden fees/charges and replaces them with a free price tag.

Each property receives its own web page, from which users can contact the agency directly via phone or email. Free links are also provided to link through to the agency’s or property’s website.

Here’s the vacation rental review takeaway

vacation rental review takeaway

There are plenty of “free to advertise” vacation rental websites out there.
I look at it like this;

  1. I love free. (and so should you)
  2. Times are hard. As I said in the first of these articles, we are all trying to deal with this economic downturn.
  3. The more websites that you advertise on, the more places you can be found.
  4. If you only get one extra booking ~ That’s one extra booking!
  5. It only costs your time. And that’s free too.
  6. What have you got to lose? Nothing, that’s what.
  7. Pick those that suit your needs. What are you waiting for.

  1. Great summary, Alan! I see your list is growing!
One more is missing, free to list and get your own vacation rental website in 3 clicks: http://rentini.com

Rentini.com makes it easy to rent out your vacation home. We provide you with all the necessary tools to manage your vacation rental: calendar, payment portal, and even a website dedicated to your property. Give us a try, it take less than 5 minutes to get your listing up and running.

  2. I just signed up on Rentini. (www.rentini.com). It was easy to get started and their basic level is free to list. There is only a fee if a reservation is booked. They take a 1% commission on the rental plus a flat 5.00 booking fee. I was able to link my Home Away calendar, and you can add tons of photos. It took me about 15 minutes to do a general listing, then once it was approved, I spend about an hour tweaking it and rearranging photos and refining my description and rates. Like you mentioned…. if only one additional booking comes from it… worth it!

    1. Alan Egan says:

      Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for sharing that. I like the layout and look of their website. Sounds like very good value.
Please let us know how you get on with bookings.

      Good luck, Alan

  3. Andy says:

Hi, thanks for mentioning us Alan! At

Getaway Earth we often hear from owners “free is great, but why should I spend precious time registering and uploading my rental?”. So we tried to make it quick and simple! And yes, we have managed to generate a few bookings, so spending that precious time has worked!

    Thanks again.

    Andy

    1. Alan Egan says:

      Thanks Andy,

It just goes to show that you do have to work for bookings but you don’t have to pay for bookings.

  4. Hello Alan Egan,

many thanks for the reporting of free websites, I watched them all and some publish an ad, I noticed that in general the proposals for Italy are not many perhaps because so far, I ask your opinion and possibly reports of specialized sites . If you have occasion to come to Italy I will be very happy to offer you a drink, you know that we are born a few Km from the famous Barolo and Barbaresco?
A lot of thanks for the attention you dedicate to my request.

    Best regards.
    Giovanna Oliveri

  5. John says:

Great list. One more website mangers/owners of Vacation Rentals could also try is http://www.rdomus.com. It is a site that provides location based information to visitors. Vacation Rentals are readily available to the visitors along local attractions, museums and hotels. Listing is free, and there is no limit to number of properties you can list. No trial offers after which you are requested to pay fees. Service is simply free, and we plan to keep it that way.

    Best Regards,
    John
