Vacation Rental Owners Raise Interest With Pinterest

Are you using Pinterest to promote your vacation rental because you should be!
For those that don’t know Pinterest it’s a virtual pin-board website where you can add, amongst other things, photographs.
It’s also the hottest social media thing at the moment.
More importantly the presentation is gorgeous.
And as a bonus it’s fun and really easy to use. Better still it’s free. I like free.

You can’t just sign up though, you have to apply for an invite, but I applied and was invited after just a few days.
Apply here http://pinterest.com
Here’s what I did.

I created an account called rentmore and I created a board called “my vacation rental home” and I posted some atmospheric photographs to that board, just to show as an example. I also saved the board in the category “holidays”.

Here is a snapshot of what it looks like
The results could help vacation rental owners

You can see the actual results here http://pinterest.com/rentmore/my-vacation-rental-home/

That’s a great URL, easy to remember, does what it says on the tin and can’t harm any SEO goodness. So think before signing up for an account and before creating boards!

As I said I think the presentation is lovely.
It’s frowned upon to be spammy so be as creative as you can.
You can “pin” any image or video on the web so this could be stunningly good for showcasing places of interest, local towns, villages, golf courses etc. that are near to your vacation rental.
I will be making some more sample boards in the coming weeks to show what I mean.
Other advantages are the “Post to Facebook button” and the “Twitter” button, so it’s easy to spread the word (board).

It’s just another way to make a great impression.

The takeaway for Vacation rental owners

Here’s the VR owners takeaway

Pinterest is very now and it looks like its here to stay.
It was launched in spring 2010
It’s now ranked #9 in Google
There were 4.5 million users last November (some of whom will be going on holiday this year)
It just received 29 million in venture capital.
Total visits increased by 4000% in the last 6 months

Are you using Pinterest?
If you aren’t using it yet then maybe you should head over to http://pinterest.com and apply for an invite.
If you are already pinning then share your boards here in the comments section.
I would love to see your work.

I hope that you found this article useful
I have also written a number of guides that teach, in an easy to follow, pictorial way, how to make a great impression.

Vacation rental marketing makeover guideThe first of these is THE MARKETING MAKEOVER GUIDE and this 35 page guide covers how to make and take better photos. It’s packed with common sense advice, reveals professional tricks of the trade, shows real life makeover examples and comes with easy to follow check-lists.
All in all, it’s a great place to start on the road to more bookings.

Vacation rental marketing - creating a portfolioThose that purchase The Marketing Makeover Guide also receive, free of charge, our CREATING A PORTFOLIO GUIDE as a bonus and this guide looks at how to build a portfolio of 15 to 20 images, even if you only own a one bedrom appartment. Once again this guide comes with lots of examples and easy to follow check-lists.

      Thanks for getting in touch.

I had a look at your boards and that’s just great use of the medium.
Love the wedding angle and the activities board.
I also love the ipad in each room post and will feature that in tomorrows photo of the week article with a link back to your boards.

      Thanks again for sharing.
